When I moved to Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2007 the web was still largely devoid of English language information on the country beyond geopolitical ‘Great Game’ retreads and the occasional ‘crazy Astana’ or Borat reference (notable exceptions were the two Godfathers of Expat-in-Kazakhstan blogging: the Astana based KZBlog and Chris Merriman). So I created this blog was in order to try and document what life was like in Almaty during my two year planned stint. While no longer living in the Kazakhstan, I hope to still continue to write and shed some light on this beautiful, vast country. I can be reached at molapse [аt] gmail [dot] com

Here is just a small selection of some of the praise* that this blog has received:

“I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.”
-’Przekłady’ – Purveyor of Classical Sikh Sangeets

“Kudos for one’s wonderful posting! We certainly enjoyed reading A Momentary Relapse of Reason, you will be an wonderful source. I will be sure to book mark your blog site and will eventually come back someday We like to motivate yourself to continue this excellent work, have a nice evening.”
